Woes for Flings

Going into the game versus TPJC off the back of a stimulating performance in the 3-3 draw against Yokogawa, Flings had nothing to show for their supposed upswing, as far as proficiency in front of goal and defensive resilience was concerned.

Flings started with an overall 4-5-1 formation. GK Jia Jun retaining his position between the posts, FB Abra joined CB Yuquan in the heart of defence, with FB Rong Feng and Malcom on either side and DM Zhi Han sitting nanny in front of the back four. CM Eug played in the middle of the park, LM Tai Wen and RM Jiun Hoe providing the width in midfield, with ST Dovanson in an advanced position to assist CF Wei Siong.

With much unfulfilled promise prior, Flings was looking to finally put their losing ways behind them, aiming to get an early headstart. Straight off the blocks Flings made clear to their opponents their attacking intent, as they broke at pace, focusing play down the widths, players running at defenders. Flings flooded forward in numbers, with both FBs quick to penetrate and provide that extra man to support in attack. TPJC were well pinned back, unable to cope with the attacking intensity, with players careless in possession. It didn’t come as a surprise when they finally crumbled to pressure, conceding an early penalty, CB ESPZEN criminally taking down FB Jiun Hoe in the box after his blazing run saw him through on goal.

Perhaps it was burden too much to shoulder, and it wasn’t helping, that the team behind him was a team low on confidence looking to turn things around. CF Wei Siong stepped up to the plate, only to put an uncharacteristically tame effort straight at the keeper.

Flings had multiple chances to break the deadlock, with LM Tai Wen, who was having a fairly good game, getting the better of his marker in a number of occasions. They came the closest, when Tai Wen picked up a stray TPJC pass and broke down left flank to pull one across goal, ST Dovanson arriving a split second too late.

Devoid of ideas and most definitely against the run of play, TPJC surprised their opponents by taking the shock lead in the extraordinary, albeit in a fashion not unfamiliar to Flings. GK Jia Jun proved unable to shake off previous demons and found himself back in the similar nightmare two fortnights ago.

GK Khyrul, who was by far the busier of the two custodians, became the unlikely goalscorer. His huge putt of a goal kick sailed down the field, taking a significant bounce on the edge of JJ’s box before inevitably dipping under the crossbar. JJ, backpedaling, scrambling.

As though there wasn’t enough humiliation, history repeated itself for the third time, Khyrul replicating his previous successful attempt for TPJC’s 2^nd goal. To say it was harsh, was an understatement. TPJC were elated, equally perplexed, Flings, disbelieving. Damai Sec was rocking. 0 – 2

LB Zimu, CM Shawn and RM Minhan came on after the break to assist in restoring parity. Sporadic efforts throughout the 2^nd half by the increasingly despondent Flings outfit were ultimately unable to put them back into the game. CM Shawn, Abra, noticeably, had shots well saved by the TPJC keeper. Flings were lacking the final product. In cruise control now, the rest of the game was seen off by TPJC constantly playing the long ball, hoping to again catch JJ off guard. It paid off in one final effort, TPJC ST poking home from close range after the Flings defence was unable to clear a difficult ball from deep.

Its been slightly more than year since Fling F.C. was formed, a band of brothers supposedly brought together by their sheer passion for the game. Although differences in appointment and employment made it difficult for the now semi-defunct Flings to gather for the odd game which was once deemed so probable, perhaps one should revisit the very reason which galvanized the set-up of the club itself. Never mind the contrast in ideas and differences in efforts, because at the end of the day, if you share the same love for the Game, you speak the same language.

Flings denied consecutive win

An encouraging display of football over 90 minutes by the resurgent Flings wasnt enough to see off f.c. Yokogawa, in a match marred by incompetent refereeing. Goals from RF Guo En and CM Shawn in rapid succession after the restart meant that Flings was on track in exacting revenge for the two teams' previous encounter, in which Yokogawa got away narrrowly, in an emphatic 5-4 win on Greenview soil. However, it wasn't meant to be as Yokogawa left it late, CF 19 poking the ball home after a goalmouth scramble 5 minutes from time, leaving Flings to rue incorrect refereeing decisions and lapses in an otherwise impression defensive display, as the day ended with both teams having to share the spoils.

Going into the game with newly restored belief after a mauling of Firebrand f.c. by a whopping 6 goals, Flings were bright and lively straight off the whistle and certainly looked by far, the more dangerous side. They didnt have to wait long as the persistence of CF Wei Siong paid off. Nipping the ball off an obviously inexperienced custodian after a poor backpass from his own backline, Wei Siong had the simplest of tasks of rolling the ball into the empty net, putting Flings 1-0 up at the 4th minute.

Having defensive pairing Yong Cheng and Yu Quan at the heart of the Flings' defence meant that Yokogawa's attacking ideas down the middle of the park were reduced to close to nothing, and any attempts of creativity down either flanks were stifled with relative ease by WBs Rong Feng and Abraham, who were both having a superb game. It took however, a huge slice of luck for Yokogawa to find the equaliser, albeit in the unlikeliest of fashion. A huge kick by CM Big Foot from a seemingly harmless free kick awarded to Yokogawa well inside their half amazingly found its way under GK Jia Jun's crossbar. Well off his line, he could only watch as the ball sailed over and into the back of the net.

The teasing of Flings by Lady Luck obviously wasnt over as Yokogawa took the lead against the run of play, this time from a corner. Rising highest above the Yellow Army's defence, CM Big Foot did well to meet the inswinging cross, directing the ball goalwards. Just as it looked to be heading well wide, it took a wicked deflection off the backside of LM Zimu, Flings well rooted, unbelieving as Yokogawa took the shock lead.

Unable to capitalise on the slow-on-the-backfoot defence of Yokogawa, Flings went into the break a goal behind. CM Shawn had a glorious chance to cancel out the deficit just before the stroke of halftime, after a display of high-speed footwork saw him jinx past the entire Yokogawa's defence with just the keeper to beat, only for overzealous CF Wei Siong to take a touch on the ball, the referee correctly blowing for offside. In other horrific refereeing decisions, Flings could have broke free after incisive defence splitting passes put Wei Siong and Zimu through.

Flings started the second half fast and furious, clearly infuriated. New signing Jun Kwang came on to provide fresh legs on the left channel as fellow Scouts Min Han and Jiun Hoe took up position on RM and LB respectively. It took only a minute into the start of the second period for Rong Feng and Min Han to combine, the former putting the right midfielder through into the box as Min Han powered towards the byline. It took a clumsy tackle from Yokogawa's LB KCP to stop the run, and there was no arguments from the opposition as the referee awarded the penalty without hesistation. CM Shawn stepped up, and made no mistake from the spot, to restore parity. 2-2.

The Scouts ensemble, brought into the squad for their tenacity, hard running and hounding, delivered as they ran Yokogawa ragged. Powerful drives and effective overlapping runs on either flanks by the quartet of Scoutateers Min Han, Rong Feng, Jun Kwang and Jiun Hoe saw the Yokogawa's box bombarded and succumbing to the relentless pressure. It all paid off in the 54th minute, as Shawn treaded a perfectly weighted through ball for both Jun Kwang and Guo En to beat the offside trap. The keeper, helpless as they charged in, could only watch in despair as Guo En slotted home to put Flings ahead. Shawn almost put the game beyond doubt, when he curled in a 60th minute free kick destined for the top corner, only for it to ricochet off the crossbar.

For the second time in the match Yokogawa hauled themselves back into the game, with CF 19 poking home from close range after a scramble at the goalmouth. The exuberant start to the second period stood for nothing, as Flings' response to the late equaliser was half-hearted, with Wei Siong, Guo En and Jun Kwang failing to test goalkeeper with chances. As quickly as Flings had gained their attacking momentum it seemed to desert them just when they needed it most in the final 10 minutes. And as if not having done enough damage already, the incompetent referee blew 7 minutes before normal time, quelling any chance of a Flings' comeback.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Jun Kwang

Proving to be a gem of a signing, his tenacious and dogged display at right midfield and left back saw him impact the game in many ways gone unseen, having also played a crucial role in Flings' third goal.

In retrospect, this Flings team is a work in progress. The cast list certainly brought some pizzazz back in January when they were first formed, but many of the players have yet to translate their court abilities onto the field. Dazzling footwork and effective ball possession are still largely unseen from the very capable Flings players. This however, serves as a reminder of why Flings is yet to realise their ambitions, and promised potential. With founding players floundering and mostly unrepresentive on the pitch of their street telepathy, skill and guile, it is a cause for concern and worry. Lack of fluidity and lapses in concentration of an otherwise resolute defence are also glaring problems. Till the players find their feet, perhaps through the regularity of games together and both on and off-the-ball work on the pitch, we are and will still, be looking at a rather stagnate Flings

Fling F.C. turns the corner with Sexy(6) victory.

Prior to the match on Sunday, the question was on the mind of every Giallo, "Will this be the match where we will notch our first victory in the year 2010?" Spirits were not high in the dressing room for a team brimming with talent as individuals yet look so ordinary when playing together as a team. Over the past 8 months, many in the team seem to have got used to the feeling of losing. The fire in each Giallo's eyes was long gone and there were even rumors that the jersey would be burn if Fling F.C. were to lose again.

Alas this was not to happen. A change in tactical management see Captain Dovanson take a backseat this time round as Tay Guoen, former captain of Sphinx F.C. and Tan Taiwen take the reins and steer the Giallo to its first victory. Playing a conservative 4-5-1 formation, the idea was to soak up the opponents' attack and striking them on the counter. This was a tactic which had worked well for the Giallo in many games though the lack of tactical discipline ultimately cost them the match one too many times.

Firebrand F.C. was first off the blocks as the match kicked off, Firebrand F.C. piled on the pressure down the left flank with their Captain Scott Loh leading the charge. However, despite a few scares and last ditch tackles, Fling F.C. survive the onslaught unscathed. The tide changed when a defensive error allowed Weisiong to gain possession of the ball in the opponent's half, the keeper got a hand on the ball as Weisiong tries to place a shot. The goal bound deflection was given a boost as Eugene was first to the ball pushing it into the empty net. It was a little piece of good luck for the Giallo who did not look threatening since the opening.

With the score at 1-0, the Giallo begin to look more convincing with more confidence. Centre-Mid Chester, playing ad-hoc for the Giallo, lofted a beautifully weighted ball over the Firebrand F.C. last line of defence. Weisiong latches on to the through pass and with only the Keeper to beat, makes no mistake this time round as he places the ball into the bottom corner. 2-0 in a short span of 15 mins but the goals were far from over.

In the 30th minute, substituition Guoen came on and immediately produced a piece of magic when he gained possession of the ball on the outside of the penalty area. Without any consideration, he whipped the ball into the top far corner beyond the reach of the goalkeeper who could only stand rooted to the ground.

Though 3-0 down, Firebrand F.C. was not giving down without a fight as they continued to attack down the left flank and over the centre. Their CM almost released the striker with a beautiful through ball which beat Yuanxin once. Not to be beaten twice, Yuanxin chased down the striker and managed to shield the ball from the opponent as Dovanson (playing the gk role because Jiajun was late) came out to collect the easy ball. Alas this moment turned into another goal opportunity as everyone seem to lose their concentration in that instance, waiting for the dropkick from the GK. Dovanson however wasted no time as he plunged the ball high across the field straight into the path of striker Weisiong waiting at the other end of the field. The opponent GK immediately rushed out but was too late as Weisiong beautifully headed the ball over the oncoming GK into the empty net, a piece of movement that was trained on the street soccer court wonderfully materialising on the pitch. The game was now 4-0 at halftime.

The second half of the game started with newly signed GK Jiajun making his debut for the team. Impressing on his debut as he was quick off his line to clear away any real danger. The second half started like the first with Firebrand F.C. still surging forward in search for their first goal. However, Fling F.C. was not done with Firebrand yet. Dovanson now playing RM got hold of the ball on the flank, dribbling pass his two markers and drifting into the opponents penalty box. As he played a pass towards Guoen, a lunging tackle from the back brought Guoen down and it was instantly a penalty. There was a moment where it wasn't clear who would take the penalty kick but it was Weisiong who ultimately step forward and calmly slot the ball into the back of the net. The Giallo first Hat-trick goes to FW Choo Weisiong.

At this point of time the game was certainly over, Firebrand had lost its will as they could only watch in horror when Guoen cheekily tonjo a shot into the goal again after a pass from Shawn during a corner making the score 6-0.

Guoen Again!!

The exceptional scoreline was only marred at the very last minute when a horrific defensive error see Firebrand F.C. striker ghost past the Giallo two CB and slam a shot beyond the reach of GK Jiajun. A consolation goal for the team 6-1 as the final whistle was blown immediately after the restart.

With renewed confidence in the team, everyone awaits with bated breath to see if the Giallo will finally fulfill its true potential.

Man Of the Match : Choo Weisiong

Having gotten his first hat-trick, Weisiong rises among the pack as he is now the leading goalscorer standing at 6goals. You can also be certain that this would not be his last hat-trick. The Giallo would definately stand to benefit from the FW's return to his scorching hot goal scoring form.

Fling F.C. could barely lift their heads up under the scorching sun Sunday morning after a humiliating defeat to One United F.C as they threatened to rack double figures against the tremendously under-performing Flings. Fresh from the defeat to Lucky Strikes at Bedok View with shame still vividly lingering on their minds, this was not the best of results for the top flight team, still yet again, unable to turn the corner.

Starting the match with fervour and intent Flings showed glimpses of what they could achieve. Fluid movement and decisive passing saw Flings retain the ball for most of the opening quarter of the game and they looked most likely to score. They didnt have to wait long. Capitalizing on the slow-on-the-backfoot defense totally lacking of awareness, Flings flooded forward in numbers after regaining possession from a stray pass by OU’s midfield, and the move ended in flourish with CM Rz delivering a superb through ball for Striker Guo En to latch onto and slot home past the hapless keeper for the first goal.

Rising in confidence and finally looking like a genuine side Flings went two up when OU RB totally misjudged the bounce of DM Zhi Han's long and high clearance. He could only gap in horror as Striker Wei Siong shadowed past the shellshocked RB to collect the loose ball and he made no mistake with only the keeper to beat.

But the question of the century would be how Flings could have slipped up so badly to end up with the such a woeful scoreline. 2-0 up the referee appeared to have walk past Captain Dovanson and exchanged a few words, which Dovanson smirked to.

Perhaps it was a sleeping dragon, yet fully awakened from its deep slumber. Or perhaps, it was a grizzly, which needed to feel more than a pinch to retaliate. Or perhaps, it was just the utter lack of professionalism to respect the opponents and the ability to retain and hold the team's shape.

Nothing less than SAW Vll saw Flings shredded apart as OU peppered the remainder of the match putting the ball past GK Soh for a total of 8 times, with such jaw-dropping ease not even worth mentioning. A second goal for Guo En after receiving a fantastic lofted ball onto his path from Shawn was also unable to pull Flings back into the game, scoreline 3-3 at the break.

As age and experience won at the end of the day, Flings were let down once again by horrific defending, and wastefulness from the frontline. Despite starting the first half strongly and looking like the team that was going to dictate things, Flings only have themselves to blame for the goals they conceded. As people are starting to write off the flailing team, its up to the Giallo to keep their act togther, and hopefully take it all out on their next opponent. We would all be praying.

Man of the Match : Tay Guo En

Looking sharp and mobile after his return from injury, Guo En was a constant threat to the opponent's backline with his darting runs and incisive dribbles. Grabbing two well taken goals and finally getting his name on the scoresheet after a bad spell was the only good thing that came out of all the mess. And for that, we duly present Man OF The Match to ST Guo En.

Lucky Strikes proved the difference in feisty match

Fling F.C. succumbed to yet another defeat in the blistering Sunday morning heat, and the atmosphere around the Fling's camp has been increasing depressing. Fielding a team laden with injuries to various players, they were a pale shadow of the team that lost by a whisker to Yokogawa last week. Sorely missing rock-solid Yong Cheng in the heart of defence, Flings lacked a dominant-in-the-air centreback who could have made the difference in a match full of hopeful long punts. Let down by lacklustre performances from the attacking players and a non-impressive display from the midfield meant that the Giallo could only register their third lost in four games.

Starting the game with debutant Mao on the right wing in place of the recently out-of-sorts Eugene, Flings was straight out of the starting blocks from the whistle as both teams surged forward in search for the first goal. But fatigue and the simple lack of hunger for the ball by the Flings meant Lucky Strike coming more into the game, stringing passes and keeping possession, they looked the more composed and confident side. However so, they were lacking that attacking edge, and wasted a flurry of chances that could well kill the game. Flings were made to look like passengers in the park, with only Yu Quan, Shawn and Yuan Xin being the only few players able to challenge and win the headers. Unable to play the game as they would have liked, Flings were forced into playing hopeful high balls, bypassing the midfield and to drop the ball into the other half. Centre Midfielder Dodo was unsuccessful on one occasions-too-many, trying to bring the ball up the field through the tough manhandling Lucky Strike midfield trio when simple one touch passes would have released and served him better. Recently rejuvenated Zhi Han however, relished his new role as the Defensive Midfielder, putting up a firm display breaking up and plugging out the opponents attacks down the middle of the park.

However one man was never going to stop an entire team, as Lucky Strike grabbed the elusive first goal well into the first half. Lucky Strike midfielder floated a hopeful, but nonetheless dangerous, long ball into the Flings box, which RightBack Yuan Xin, on the backfoot, could only manage to head back across his own goal. Flings watched in horror as the ball looped over leftback Rong Feng, dropping enticely for the Lucky Strike striker to put the ball into the net for the decisive first goal, Goalkeeper Soh rooted on the spot.

Any chance of early retaliation from Flings was banished when Lucky Strike bagged the second goal five minutes later. Regaining possession in the middle of the park, Lucky Strike started an attack, which saw the beautiful buildup end with a perfectly weighted cross from the right flank to Lucky Strike striker, who slotted home with conviction.

Flings managed to pull one back with hole Striker Wei Siong capitalising on the suspect goalkicks from the Lucky Strike keeper. There was nothing he could do when he saw yet another of his weak goalkicks meeting the head of Wei Siong, who directed the ball home audaciously from 30 metres out. Flings attempts to equalise before the break was futile, as Left winger Taiwen saw his weak shot gathered by the Lucky Strike keeper at the near post, with Lucky Strike defender clearing superbly a dangerous low cross into the box from Wei Siong to Poh Tiong in another occasion. Yuquan could have pulled one back just before the break when he directed a well-delivered corner just wide of the post. Lucky Strike were relieved to have held on to their slender lead, as the referee blew for the end of the first half.

Flings started the second half with right winger Eugene replacing Yuanxin, suffering from his recurring hamstring injury. Mao dropping back to rightback as Eugene and Taiwen swapped flanks, intending to play a different approach to the game. It wasnt meant to be as the second half saw the teams trying to outmuscle one another. Centre Back Shawn tried to pull the team through, but could only see his efforts to penetrate the midfield thwarted, withLucky Strike manhandling the industrious player. Striker Qing was handed his first team debut, replacing Poh Tiong for the 2nd half of the game. However even fresh legs were unable to spark any revival, with Qing managing a few good touches and overweighted passes, and with Eugene still struggling to find his form. What Flings needed was a player with the maturity and vision in the middle of the park, to control the tempo of the game, to be able to spot and send the pacey attackers through.

Fiercely contested challenges for the ball caused a stir, Qing, Shawn and Poh Tiong all getting into heated encounters with the opponents as it threatened to overshadow the game. Kelvin made an appearance for the team when he came on for Dodo, to help bolster the defense. Last gasp attempts to break down the opponents defence were agonising and unconvincing. Flings had a glimmer of hope when they earned a freekick in a dangerous position, but Shawn could only see his weak effort fall straight into the arms of the keeper. It summed up the second half with Flings deprived of the ball upfront and unable to create chances to level the game, as they sank to another defeat on the barren turf of Bedok View.

As the players take a long break due to the festive season, they must be left scratching their heads wondering how in the world, with the amount of promise and talent, their appalling inability to grab the game and put it beyond doubt of their opponents. As the manager goes back to the board to draw up the tactics, we can only hope and pray for Fling F.C. as they gear up for the crucial fixture on the 16th of February, when they face xxxxx F.C.

Soh Yi Xiu- 6 (Could have exerted more command and aerial presence to thwart the opponents hopeful punts)

Yuan Xin - 7 (Massive presence on the ground and in the air, solid in defense, unfortunate to have indirectly caused the first goal)

Rong Feng - 5 (Blistering runs down left flank in the second half, but was unconvincing in defence throughout the game)

Yu Quan - 7 (An aerial presence, able to put the ball out of danger, could have scored the equaliser)

Zhi Han - 7 (A reliable hard man in the middle of the park, aggressive and committed, could have distributed the ball better)

Shawn - 6 (Tried too hard to carry the team, was not up to his usual high standards)

Poh Tiong - 5 (Showed glimpses of his capability, unlucky not to have seen more of the ball)

Eugene - 5 (Still unable to regain his form and goalscoring ability, combined well with Rong Feng on the flank)

Mao - 6 (Impressed on his debut, could have played the ball better though)

Tai Wen - 5 (Caught holding on to the ball way too long, failed to convert chances, could have timed his runs better)

Kelvin - 5 (Came on for Dodo late into the game, unable to impact the game)

Dovanson - 5 (Was unable to provide that creative spark in the heart of midfield, vision and range of passing could have been better)

Weisiong - 7 (Scored an audacious goal, unselfish play to set up teammates was unfortunately unrewarded)

Qing - 6 (Unable to pierce the opponents defense, showed good touches nonetheless)

Man of the Match: Zhi Han
Reborn in his new defensive midfield role, Zhi Han wore his heart on his sleeve, providing that all-important cover for the centrebacks. Going into challenges decisively and effectively, he played an overall impressive game, marred only by the lack of proper ball distribution.

Fling F.C. played well with both Pohtiong and Taiwoon opening their scoring accounts but somehow, Fling F.C. lost the second match in a row against the "mighty" Yokogawa F.C.

The game began well for the Giallo as Abraham had the first shot on goal saved by the Yokogawa GK.

There were chances here and there but Flings eventually scored the first goal of the game when Zimu charged down the entire left flank leaving his marker in his wake (he calls it burning the opponent) before crossing the ball to Poh Tiong to tap in from close range. He was very happy to score. Like the great Ronaldo, he's the best player in the world when he scores but fat when he doesn't.

Flings then went on to bombard the Yokogawa goal but Yokogawa managed to equalised from a corner just before half-time.

In the second half, Yokogawa striker X managed to break through the defence but the shot was deflected by GK Soh, only for Yuquan to coolly clear off the line. Soh was then taken off as the bloody uneven ground stirred up some bad memories of grade II ankle sprain again. Poh Tiong then showed his versatility and played in goal, but rumours has it that he was chosen due to his size LOL.

The game became more open as both teams had plenty of chances on target. Yokogawa scored twice but they were brought level when Weisiong made two assists. The first was a low drive cross across the six yard box which Dodo slotted home, and the second was a pass to Taiwoon, who then proceeded to cut in and lob the keeper.

Somehow, Yokogawa managed to score two more, and the game looked to be over for Fling F.C. but Taiwoon did a Robben once again, cutting in and scoring a consolation goal to prove that the Giallo had the firepower after all.

It was a great game and bloody hot afternoon.

Zimu - 8 (hardworking with good runs but has to stay in his DM position more)

Dovanson - 5 (number of passes made could be counted in one hand, countless number of missed opportunities to finish the game)

Man of the Match: Soh Yi Xiu
Though played only one half, Soh was quick off his line many times to prevent a potential one-on-one situation for the opposition.
Looked fresh in his first game, proved that he has the ability and skill to be the custodian of the Giallo. A pity that he injured himself again.

THIS IS SOHKANET REPORTING!

FLING F.C. defeated MUDREDS F.C. 2-2 (on away goals) due to having transferred two of our players over to them, and the MUDREDS being late.

Being late = home ground = we play away = we win.

The first goal of the game was scored by Weisiong at the 5th min with a well - placed finish to the far post following an assist from CYC.

MUDREDS then equalised (WHO THE HECK CAME UP WITH THE NAME LOL) controversially as the ball went out for a goal kick, but their striker managed to nip the ball from GK Kelvin Tan and tapped home the equaliser. FLING F.C. decided not to challenge the goal as MUDREDS were little boys.

FLING F.C. took the lead again when dodo kneed in a cross from left winger Taiwen. however, it was another controversial play as Taiwen was deemed to have handled the ball but the ref did not see it, and neither did SOHKANET.

MUDREDS equalised again in the dying minutes of the game due to a defensive mix-up as they somehow salvaged a point from the game.

Other highlights of the game included yalam striker jersey number 3 shooting from the halfway line and GK kelvin made a great save to tip the ball onto the crossbar.
Not to mention GK Kelvin rare and successful attempt at a drop kick directed to Taiwen only for the latter to trip and fall while chasing the ball.
The best chance of the game fell to dodo in a one on one situation following a brilliant built up from Eugene pass to Weisiong who lay the ball for dodo with a back heel only for him to poke the ball high under pressure. Taiwen's cross also found the head of dodo following an imba passage of play but dodo's header was just wide of the top corner.

taiwen: 8 (Nice crossing, but fell like a silly fool to entertain crowd)
pohtiong: 6 (Misplaced a lot of passes, did not look confident, fat, unfit)
guoen: 7 (Penetrating, nice threat to opposition)
dodo: 8 (Played v well, scored a goal, shld be less solo :))
weisiong: 8 (Scored a goal too, shld forever play in centre forward.)

The Team needs more match fitness and experience. needs better first touch. needs to play more together. needs team chemistry. otherwise well done.

MAN of THE MATCH : Chan Yong Cheng
Was dedicated in his mission to defend whether or not he is playing as the RB or CB. Extremely solid and stable. Making many last ditch tackles to deny the opponent shooting opportunities, not to mention an assist and this player deserves the MAN of the MATCH.

Match up!

Our first game, the scoreline is kind of flattering because we were actually overrun by the opponent. But it is okay we can all blame it on our lack of experience. It is our first game after all. We are good and we know it!

The opponent opened their scoring about 30mins into the game and another at the stroke of half time. 2 nill down but spirits were still high then.

The second half started and not long after they scored again 3-0.
Shawn then made it 3-1 with a simple tap-in after receiving a loping through ball from Dovanson.
Within minutes, it was 3-2 when Shawn turn deliverer this time round with a through ball straight into Dovanson's path for him to slot it into the far post.
A comeback was seemingly on the cards now.
However another goal by the opponent put the game beyond our reach even if we manage to pull one back at the 90th min when Dovanson threaded a through ball for Shawn to place the ball into the far post.

Other highlights include Abraham taking a wicked shot straight in the chest, going onto the ground hyperventilating but the opponents did not stop play and scored a goal in the chaos. Eugene had an earlier chance with a loping through ball from the midfield but he failed to make a clean contact with the ball being pressured by a defender from behind.

Man of the Match : Shawn Wee
His ability in the air allows the team to get first possession from each goal kick. Playing box to box, his surging runs upfield was the key to the 3 goals. Also seen tracking back when there is a need to help out in defence as well. Exceptional ability to control the ball in the middle of the park while looking out for the striker making his runs.
Two goals and One assist. The MOTM goes to Shawn Wee.
